2.00% APY top certificate of deposit rate with Altra Federal Credit Union

Altra Federal Credit Union provides the highest interest rates for their certificate of deposit. The credit union is promoting their 18 month CD special which requires you to have a checking account for you to earn the best interest rate of 2.00% APY. If you decide not to open a checking account then you will earn a lower interest rate of 1.50% APY on your CD account. The following are the current CD rates when you have a checking account:

6 month 0.75% APY
12 month 1.00% APY
24 month 1.30% APY
36 month 1.75% APY
48 to 60 month 2.05 APY

If you don’t open a checking account your current interest rate will be lower by 25 basis points. The credit union will also require you to deposit a minimum of $1,000 to open an account. Incase you decide to withdraw funds before the maturity date, expect that penalties will be applied.

Altra Federal Credit Union is also promoting their Grow Green Youth Certificate for children ages 12 to 17 years old. This certificate of deposit lets you earn an interest rate of 7.50% APY. The minimum deposit is $25 to open an account with a maximum limit of $1,000. The maturity date of this CD is on the 18th birthday of the account holder. For early withrawals, the penalty will be 100% of the earned dividends before the 18th birthday of the account holder.

Individuals who live, worship, work, or study in Montgomery County, Tenneesse; Smith County, Texas; Winona, Minnesota; and La Crosse, Wisconsin are welcome to join Altra Federal Credit Union. Employees of Trane or Trane authorized dealers and Altra Select Employer Groups are also welcome to join the credit union. You just need to complete the online application to join and pay for the membership fee of $5.00 which will be deducted from your initial deposit.
