VIA Credit Union offers attractive interest rates for their certificate of deposit offerings . The current cd rates are as follows:
12 to 17 months 1.06% APY
18 to 23 months 1.26 % APY
24 to 29 months 1.41% APY
30 to 35 months 1.51% APY
36 to 47 months 2.01% APY

These certificate of deposit deals can be opened with an initial deposit of $500. They are also available as IRA and HSA certificates. The credit union will notify the account holder upon the maturity of the certificate of deposit but renewal is automatic unless specified. The certificate of deposit with terms of 3 to 17 months has an early withdrawal penalty of 60 days of earnings while 24 to 71 month CDs has a penalty of 180 days of dividends whether they are earned or not.
They also have the 33-month CD Special which has an interest rate of 2.21% APY. This requires an initial funding of $10,000.
Another money in the bank is their ViaStart Up Certificate of deposit which earns 1.06% APY. This calls for a $10 initial deposit but has a maximum deposit cap of $1,200. It also requires a monthly deposit. The start up CD cannot be acquired as an IRA or HSA certificate. Early withdrawals for this account will cost the account holder the equivalent earnings of 6- days of the account. An early withdrawal for the Start Up CD will mean closing of the account and transferring the remaining balance to the Membership Share account. There is also a penalty if you do not comply with the required monthly deposit.
Membership to the VIA Credit Union is open for those who live or work in the counties of Grant, Madison, Miami, or Blackford in Indiana. You can also get in through qualified family members or through members in your household. There are also select employee groups thru which you can join this credit union. VIA requires a $5 deposit when you sign up but you need maintain a $50 balance in your Membership Share account to avoid a monthly access fee of $3.
