TruService Community Federal Credit Union offers a certificate of deposit account with very competitive interest rates. This money in the bank requires you a very minimal opening deposit of $500 to start earning these best certificate of deposit rates. The credit union has the following current CD rates:

  • 6 months                       0.65% APY
  • 1 year                            0.91% APY
  • 2 years                          1.41% APY
  • 3 years                          1.92% APY
  • 5 years                          2.93% APY

You can start earning these highest CD rates when account balance is maintained before the certificate of deposit maturity date. In case you decide to take out some money, you will then receive an early withdrawal penalty reflected on your account. The penalty schedule are as follows:

6 months to 1 year CD term is equivalent to 90 days worth of interest
2 years to 5 years CD term is equivalent to 180 days worth of interest

There are exceptions for the early withdrawal penalty given to the account holders depending on the circumstances such as if the owner dies or is legally incapacitated and has documents issued by the court then the penalty will be waived. The credit union renews your certificate of deposit account 10 days after the maturity date. Please note that you are given 10 days to decide if you want to withdraw your money without penalty.

TruService Community Federal Credit Union membership is open to anyone who live, worship, work, or attend school, businesses and other legal entities located in the counties of Faulkner or Pulaski in the state of Arkansas. Immediate family members are also eligible to join. If you are still unsure if you qualify for membership you just need to call the credit union’s office at 501-225-3636, extension 2 or 800-260-2299.

It seems that you need to visit the branch to apply for membership and open an account. You will be required to bring proper identification like social security card and driver’s license. First, you need to complete their application form then submit it together with the copy of your ID. Next, you need to pay for the one time membership fee of $10 and deposit a minimum of $5 for your new Prime Share Savings account.
