This money in the bank deal lets you earn an interest rate of 5.25% on balances up to $5,000. The portion of balances beyond the $5k balance will earn you an interest rate of 0.15% APY. You can also have your ATM fees refunded of up to $25 per statement cycle when you meet the following requirements:

make at least 25 purchases using your debit card per statement cycle
your balance on your account should not exceed $5,000

You need to deposit a minimum of $50 to open an account. In case you were not able to meet the pre-requisites of the credit union, you still get to earn their base interest rate of 0.15% APY and you still get to have a chance to earn their best checking account rate. The earnings of this reward checking account is compounded and paid on a monthly basis.

The credit union also provides the following benefits when you take advantage of this reward checking account: no monthly service fee, no maintaining balance required, you also get free annual credit report, finally you get a chance to open their Elite Saver account that earns a higher interest rate than a regular savings account.
