Portions over $25K earn 1.01% APY. The base rate for this best reward checking account is 0.05 which is given if the account holder fails to meet the requirements.

The best interest rate for this checking account asks for at least 12 purchases using the debit card, a direct deposit or an automatic payment, and choosing electronic statements over paper account statements.

Like other reward checking programs, this money in the bank deal also refunds ATM fees. The website though does not state how much ATM fees does it return monthly or per cycle. The bank does not collect any service charges and does not impose any balance requirements. It also allows the account holder to use the Bill Pay system online for free.
