2.27% APY Best money market rate with WEPCO Federal Credit Union

WEPCO Federal Credit Union is pushing for their high interest rate money market account that earns 2.25% APY. This money market deal requires a balance of at least $2,500 to enjoy the best interest rates.

The credit union limits withdrawals from the money market account to 3 per month with each take out at $500 increments or more. Deposits are unlimited but should also be in increments of $500.

Membership to the credit union is explained on their membership page in detail. They accept retired or current employee of Westvaco Corporation in Luke, Maryland. You can also get in via family or through one of the membership organizations affiliated with the credit union. Individuals who live, work or study in the counties of Preston, Tucker, Mineral, Garrett, and Allegany can join WEPCO.

The website does not detail the particulars with regard to singing up for WEPCO FCU. It will be best if you call them through their local branches: Bloomngton, MD (800-292-8139); Oakland, MD (8777-334-1431); LaVale, MD (866-729-0146); and Keyser, WV (866-788-5305). It may be necessary to visit your local branch to open an account.

The credit union is relatively small with about $124 million in assets. We are assuming that this is a local money market deal.

WEPCO Federal Credit Union is registered with the NCUA.
