2.01% APY Savings Accounts at 1st Choice Credit Union—One of the Best Savings Interest Rates in Georgia

The 1st Choice Credit Union in Georgia has three of the best savings account offerings in the state, all earning up to 2.01% APY for balances of at least $250. While the minimum deposit and balance may be a bit steep, these three high interest account deals are still topping the bill since the national average to date is only 1.09% APY. If you qualify for membership at the CU, now is the time to think things through.

The three accounts have similar conditions if we just look at the numbers, but if you consider the intrinsic conditions of each account, you’ll notice how unique they are from each other. Perhaps you’ll even find the perfect fit for your own spending and saving habit. You can choose between the IRA Passbook, the CESA Passbook, and the Roth IRA Passbook. Unfortunately, the complete details of these accounts are not listed on the website.

It’s pretty easy to contact them, though, should you want a comparison. Just call up either of their Atlanta offices at 404.832.5800 (Auburn) or 404.616.4030 (Grady Memorial Hospital).

While their rates are attractive, we’re afraid that their membership field is a bit narrow. You have to be a current employee, former employee, or retiree of one of their partner firms (listed on their “Who Can Join?” page) to qualify.

The Georgia-based credit union received mixed ratings from bank critics. Bankrate.com was a bit tough on it, giving it only 3 stars, but BauerFinancial.com was obviously more impressed, giving it 4 of 5 stars rating. Overall, it’s a pretty sound bank to trust your money with. The ratings are also impressive considering that the credit union was around only since 1991.

The 1st Choice Credit Union is a member of the NCUA, though, and is federally insured. To verify this, you can refer to NCUA Charter # 67505.
